Chandigarh, October 16: Haryana Police have arrested a parole jumper convicted in a case of murder from Moga town of Punjab, after 14 years.
Giving details, a spokesman of Police Department said that the Satpal alias Pala, a resident of village Alipur in Jind, was jailed in connection with a murder case in year 2004.
The accused was serving life imprisonment, sentenced by a court. He was on a parole for six weeks on November 5, 2004. However, he failed to return to the jail after completion of his parole on December 18, 2004 and was declared a proclaimed offender, the spokesman said.
He said that police got information that the accused Pala is working as a priest in a temple of the district Moga in Punjab. After getting a tip-off, a police team arrested him from Moga.
The accused had been working as a priest in a temple of Moga for the long time and was engaged in teaching people the lessons of devotion.
He was produced in court from where he was sent in judicial custody, the spokesman added.
