Chandigarh, October 29:

To enable the employees working in the Shops and Commercial Establishments situated in the State of Punjab who are voters of Haryana to cast their votes in Haryana, it is considered in public interest to declare 30th October, 2021 as a paid holiday within the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining the areas of Haryana State, informed a spokesperson of the state labour department.

Therefore, under the second proviso to sub- section (1) of Section-10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 (Punjab Act No. 15 of 1958) Saturday, falling on 30th October, 2021 is to be a ‘closed day’ for the employees who are voters of Haryana working in Shops and Commercial Establishments in the adjoining State of Punjab.

However, 30th October, 2021 (Saturday) shall not be a ‘closed day’ in lieu of weekly off falling between 31st October, 2021and 6th November, 2021 on account of Bye-election to 46-Ellenabad Assembly Constituency, 2021 in the State of Haryana.
