Chandigarh, August 23: Leader of Opposition and AAP legislator Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday postponed a meeting of the party MLAs to August 24 as the rebel group, led by Sukhpal Khaira, declined to turn up citing previous commitments. The meeting has been deferred in a bid to take the rebel MLAs along for the Vidhan Sabha session.
The meeting was convened to discuss a strategy for the Vidhan Sabha session beginning August 24.
Cheema said he was sending fresh invites to the eight MLAs of the Khaira group for the August 24 meeting, which would be held before the Assembly session begins.
The Khaira group had declined to attend the meeting on Wednesday, alleging that Cheema deliberately convened a meeting for the day even as they were scheduled to hold a convention in Kotkapura. Cheema said he wanted all MLAs to take on the government in the upcoming Assembly session.
