Chandigarh, January 3: Commenting on the decision to increase the security of BJP leaders and review the security of Congress and AAP leaders by Captain Amarinder Singh, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab stated that they do not need the security of the Punjab government.
On the contrary, if Captain Amarinder Singh feels that his Congressmen need more security, then he can remove the security provided to the leaders and give it to them. With such moves, Captain wanted to prove that the farmers were attacking the Congress and the BJP leaders, while it was the anger of the common man against these leaders.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior party leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Legislative Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema said that AAP was with the farmers, laborers, traders and businessmen of Punjab and there was no threat to AAP leaders from the ‘annadatas’.
He said that AAP was standing with the farmers’ in their agitation and there was no need for security of the Punjab government. Cheema said that people were scared today due to the dirty policies of Congress, SAD and BJP to crush the people.
He said that today when the people became aware of the deadly tactics of Congress and BJP; now they had started to feel threatened by the people. “It was due to anti-people policies of Congress and BJP government that people are protesting today,” he added.
Lashing out at Captain Amarinder Singh, Cheema questioned him as to why he was not trying to find a solution to the farmers’ agitation by talking to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, instead of enhancing the security of BJP leaders.
“Is the Captain acting on the BJP’s cues to give another color to the peaceful agitation of the farmers? Instead of providing security to the BJP leaders, the Punjab government should have provided security to the farmers, protected the crops of the farmers, small shopkeepers, traders and the general public,” he said.
Cheema further said that Captain Amarinder Singh was providing security to the BJP by giving up the security provided to the farmers so that the BJP could openly campaign against the farmers and succeed in the ongoing maneuvers to suppress the movement.
He said that ever since the farmers were agitating for their survival, Captain Amarinder Singh had been supporting the Modi government instead of holding the hands of the farmers. He said that due to his son’s infatuation, Captain was selling his farmers to the Modi-led BJP government to avoid ED cases.
Cheema said that the Captain government should have filed cases against the BJP leaders who were slandering the farmers and spreading lies, but on the contrary was working to intimidate the farmers.
He said that the ploys of Congress and BJP to weaken the farmers’ movement would never succeed. The Aam Aadmi Party will support the farmers’ movement at all levels and anti-farmer moves will be met with a resounding response.
