AAP holds candle march across state against terror attacks on minorities in J&K

Date:

Chandigarh, October 10

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Sunday paid homage to the civilians who were reportedly killed in targeted terror attacks; occurred in the recent days in Jammu and Kashmir, by taking out candle marches across the state. Giving information about the same in a joint statement issued from the party headquarters here on Sunday, AAP MLAs and spokespersons Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Aman Arora said that the party leaders and volunteers took out candles marches at all the district headquarters of the state to pay homage to civilians killed in Jammu and Kashmir.

While condemning the targeting killings of the minority community, the AAP leaders demanded the Modi-led central government to protect the minority communities in the valley including Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs. “The occurrence of terror activities in recent days is a matter of very serious concern. The central government should take it seriously and strengthen the security arrangements for the minorities,” said the leaders. They also demanded the government to protect the properties of those living in the valley and restore the properties of those who left in wake of terror attacks.

Taking a dig at the Modi government, the AAP leaders said that the claims of the central government of curbing terrorism and maintaining peace in the valley with abrogation of Article 370 and demonetisation, has turned out to be false and hollow. They said the incidents of violence were increasing in Kashmir and the Modi-led central government had completely failed to provide security and tackle terrorism; and were now silent on the deaths of the civilians.

They said an attempt was being made to create a sense of fear amongst the minority communities besides encouraging communal strife in the valley, adding that the Union government should make the security of the minorities reliable in Jammu and Kashmir.
