Chandigarh, June 9: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its preparations for the Sangrur Lok Sabha by-election on Thursday and AAP’s Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh along with state president and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting with senior party leaders and office-bearers in Chandigarh.
The meeting was held to chalk out further strategies to win the MP seat again. The Sangrur by-election voting is scheduled to be held on June 23.
In the meeting, Cabinet Ministers including Harpal Singh Cheema, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Laljit Bhullar, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Harbhajan Singh ETO and party MLAs were present.
Apart from these, the District President and Lok Sabha In-charge of all the districts also attended the meeting.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the party’s Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh said that they have discussed the Sangrur Lok Sabha by-election with the senior leaders of the party.
Sangrur is the bastion of AAP where the party has been winning since 2014. In this election too, all the old records will be broken, Jarnail Singh told the media.
“AAP government-led by Bhagwant Mann has taken myriad of pro-people decisions for the welfare of Punjab in the last two and a half months. Witnessing the good governance, people’s faith in the AAP has increased,” he said.
Jarnail Singh said that it can happen only in the AAP that a young man from a common household, who wants to do something for the welfare of Punjab, has been fielded as a candidate by AAP for bypoll elections.
Meanwhile, AAP candidate Gurmail Singh said that Sangrur is the capital of AAP and he will register triumph with a thumping majority.
He further said the people of Sangrur have contributed a lot to that bolster confidence of party workers, which led to the formation of government in Punjab.
“Our Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann became MP from Sangrur for two consecutive terms. The love and trust of the Sangrur people have made him the CM of Punjab. I am confident, they will ensure my record victory this time,” Gurmail Singh added.
