Chandigarh, July 15
Supporting the whip issued by the farmers protesting against the black farm laws to the MPs, that they would stay in Parliament and raise the voice of the farmers; without boycotting, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced to raise the voice of the farmers during the Parliament session. In a statement issued to the media here on Thursday, AAP Punjab state president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said that the Aam Aadmi Party has been raising the voice of the farmers from the very beginning and the issues of the farmers would be raised loudly during the session of Parliament.
“As a Member of Parliament, it is our duty to make the voice of the ‘annadatas’ heard by the Modi government and to call for the repeal of these black farm laws,” said Mann. Addressing all the opposition MPs, Mann said that they should take up the cause of the farmers at such a critical time. He also promised to mobilise all the opposition MPs in this regard. Mann said that he has also filed many questions related to the farmers during this session and with the permission of the Speaker of Lok Sabha; he would also take up the issues of the farmers.
Taking a dig at the Modi government, Mann said that it was unfortunate that the country’s farmers had been forced to take to the streets for the last one year to get their legitimate demands met. He said that during the session of Parliament, he would continue to meet the farmers visiting the Parliament House and would extend all possible help to them. Mann reiterated that the Modi government should give up its stubbornness and withdraw these black farm laws in line with the legitimate demands of the farmers.
