Chandigarh/ Ludhiana, September 21: The new building of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre, Ludhiana and District Courts complex was jointly inaugurated by Supreme Court’s Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Surya Kant.
On this occasion, Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Justice Rajiv Sharma, Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain Administrative Judge Sessions Division, Ludhiana and Executive Chairperson Punjab State Legal Services Authority and Justice Rajan Gupta, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Lalit Batra Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Administrative Judge Sessions Division, Ludhiana and Justice H.S. Madan, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court, Gurbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge, Ludhiana, Rupinderjit Chahal, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, were also present on this occasion.
Apart from these dignitaries, other Judicial Officers of the District, members of District Bar Association, officers of the Administration and Police Officers also attended the inauguration function.
Gurbir Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana informed on the occasion that the new building comprised of Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre and 13 new courts where latest facilities were available. He further informed that the building also comprised a Conference Hall, Training Room, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre, wherein a kids room and a Record Room has also been established.
He stated that the total covered area of the building was 1,54,611 square feet wherein the area of the courts and the Ramp was 1,31,775 square feet. Area measuring 11,583 square feet was the green area and area measuring 11,253 square feet was meant for use by the general public and of the total covered area the ADR Centre was setup in 8,152.5 square feet. It was also informed that the new building was constructed at the expense of total Rs. 26.87 crore and Rs. 23.57 crore of the total expense was incurred on the construction while Rs. 3.30 crore was invested in purchasing of furniture for the new complex.
Later, a cultural function was also organised at Guru Nanak Bhawan, here, where the judges also addressed the gathering.
DLSA Secretary-cum-CJM Ashish Abrol, ADC (General) Iqbal Singh Sandhu, SDM Ludhiana (East) Amarjit Singh Bains were also present on the occasion.
