Arora lauds pro-industry, development-oriented Punjab Budget

CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 28:The Industry and Commerce Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sundar Sham Arora, today called the Budget 2020-21 presented by the Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal as pro industry oriented and development oriented.

Mr. Arora said that under the Integrated Infrastructure Development Plan, the upgradation of industrial infrastructure at Ludhiana Phase-4, Jalandhar, Bathinda and Mandi Gobindgarh has already started at a cost of Rs. 22 crore.

He said that in the Budget 2020-21, Rs.  131 crores have been kept for the renovation of the infrastructure related to industrial focal points at Pathankot, Amritsar, Goindwal Sahib, Chanalon, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Batala, Kotkapura, Nabha, Moga, Sangrur, Khanna and Derabassi.

Mr. Arora said that the state government would provide subsidized relief to the aggrieved industrialists during the year 2020-21 to promote the industries and pull them out of the deficit. He further said that as a result of efforts to revive the industrial sector in the state, subsidized electricity rates would also continue and Rs 2,267 crore had been reserved for the provision of industrial electricity subsidy during the current year.

The Industries and Commerce Minister also said that during the current year, 3 mega industrial parks with 1,000 acres of landlocked industrial infrastructure, Textile industry at Mattewada (District Ludhiana), Green industry at Bathinda and Amritsar – Kolkata industrial corridor at Rajpura would be set up. The development of these parks will not only help the industrialization but will also give a boost to the planned development in the state.

Mr Arora further said that the state government has already constituted a Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) councils in all the Districts. He further said that all the Deputy Commissioners have been authorized for district level single window so that all the projects sanctioned for regulatory approvals and financial cases can be easily completed under the Industrial and Trade Policy 2017. Similarly, by establishing the Business First Portal, doing business has been simplified.
