Chandigarh May 14 :
A Ludhiana-based NGO Atam Pargas has taken an initiative to provide succour and support to the families of the martyrs from the Farmers’ Protest. Their 25 teams have already started reaching out to these families to make an on-ground assessment of their situation. So far they have met 129 families and decided on what assistance needs to be extended to them. Each of these families has been assigned a coordinator who stays in touch with them and is instrumental in bringing them the required aid. The aid includes arranging employment for the family, supporting education of their children, and medical assistance.
The Chairman, Atam Pargas Social Welfare Council, Dr. Varinderpal Singh, informed about their very first step in the direction of providing financial help. The family of the deceased farmer Babli Singh from village Bhadra in Mansa has received an aid of Rs. 77,000 to cover the expenditure on the eye surgery of his father. This amount has been sponsored by Pardeep Saini from US. Dr. Singh has exhorted all philanthropists to register on the NGO’s website www.atampargas.org and contribute to this noble project.
On this occasion, Sarpanch of the village was present besides S. Gurpreet Singh from Punjab Mandi Board, S. Simarpreet Singh from Atam Pargas and S. Sukhpal Singh.
