Bank manager in net for Rs 2-crore fraud

Batala, March 26: The Batala police have arrested a woman bank employee who cheated a large number of customers to the tune of Rs 2.08 crore over a period of 15 years.

Bank officials said she would not have been caught had it not been for a vigilant customer who tipped off the bank staff and the police after he almost became a victim of the fraud.

The police have arrested Paramjit Kaur, assistant manager of Punjab and Sind Bank.

She will be produced in a court on Monday.Zonal manager of the bank, Lakhbir Singh, said the accused had tampered with fixed deposit receipts of many customers.
