Chandigarh, March 17:
The first year of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has witnessed major reforms in school education.
Stating this, Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains informed about the pathbreaking initiatives taken by the School Education Department on the completion of one year of the Punjab government.
S. Bains said that the state government has taken the revolutionary step to improve government school education and 117 schools of eminence have been established to provide world-class education to the students of Punjab. Admission to these schools will be on an entrance test basis.
In order to fill the vacancies of teachers in government schools, Mr Bains said that the recruitment of new teachers was one of the initial decisions of the Bhagwant Mann government. So far, the recruitment process of 6635 ETT teachers for primary schools,90Head Teachers/Centre Head Teachers has been almost completed. Similarly, orders have been given to 90 lecturers of meritorious schools. 4161 candidates of master cadre and 598 Posts of Backlog have been given appointment letters who are being allotted stations soon. Similarly, the recruitment of 5994 ETTs Teacher is underway.
He said that it was for the best time that the department has ensured timely delivery of books before the starting of academic session.
Mr Bains said that to sharpen the professional teaching skills of school principals as many as 66 school principals has been sent to Singapore for the training.
Due to the positive steps taken by the Punjab government to improve the school education, the parents at a large scale have shifted their children from private schools to government schools. On the first day of the admission campaign 2023 conducted by the department, over one lakh students have enrolled in government schools.
Similarly, on the occasion of Mega PTM on 24 December 2022, 15 lakh parents went to schools and checked the performance of their children, he added.
He expressed the hope that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann will make the government schools of Punjab the best schools in the country. The children studying in these schools will contribute to the development of Punjab, besides making their parents proud to be successful in various fields by getting quality education from these schools.
