BJP hints at rethink on alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal

Date:

Jalandhar, December 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state general secretary Dinesh Kumar today said the party, despite recording huge wins in other states, had suffered in Punjab due to anti-incumbency against the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

“Atte ke saath ghun bhi pis gaya. But keeping in view the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, we have already begun the damage-control exercise in the state,” Kumar said on Wednesday.

He said though the final decision to continue or break the political alliance would be taken by the senior leaders, the Punjab unit was prepared for both scenarios.

The party has deputed at least 73 of the 117 full-time coordinators in the Assembly constituencies and over 22,600 booth-level coordinators.
