New Delhi, January 19
Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi over his attack on the Narendra Modi government over the farm laws and national security, the ruling BJP on Tuesday accused him and the Congress of trying to scuttle the ongoing talks between the government and farmer unions.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar said the Congress does not want the talks to succeed and had resorted to “obstructive tactics”.
He also attacked its booklet “Kheti ka khoon” saying that it proved the Congress party’s “special love for ‘khoon’ (blood)”.
Referring to killings during the partition, 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Bhagalpur riots, he said it was hypocritical of Gandhi to be talking about ‘kheti ka khoon’ when Congress has blood on its hands of farmers who committed suicide during Congress rule, lakhs of people who died during the partition and of Sikhs during the 1984 riots.
Javadekar said farmers have suffered due to “destructive” policies of the Congress while the Modi government empowered them with its “pro-farmer policies”.
