Once again BJP proved that they are anti-Punjab and anti-farmers. BJP’s central government has vendetta against Punjab and suspension of RDF is their latest discrimination against the state. The Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema expressed these views while cornering the centre government and BJP Punjab leadership for suspending Rural Development Fund of Punjab.
Addressing a press conference, with AAP leaders Neel Garg and Anil Thakur, here in Jalandhar on Thursday, Harpal Cheema said that BJP is doing vindictive politics. Farmers of Punjab led the farmers’ movement at every front and border. They got support of the farmers of every state and at last BJP had to surrender to the demands of the farmers and had to revoke the three anti-farmers laws. He said that more than 700 farmers of Punjab were martyred during farmers’ agitation at the borders of Delhi and the Bharatiya Janata party and their leadership is responsible for the loss of those lives.
Unable to digest their defeat now BJP is targeting the rights and funds of Punjab again and again. They want to weaken our state financially and systematically. That is why first they were attacking the rights of our state and now they removed the entire column of RDF (Rural Development Fund) from their official document, said Cheema. He added that with this dictatorial step Punjab is facing a monetary loss of 1000 crores, this money was supposed to be used for the development of rural areas of Punjab as well as Punjab’s food markets.
Slamming all the leaders of Punjab who had recently joined the BJP, Harpal Cheema asked will the new “gems” of BJP question the central government? Sunil Jakhar, who claimed to be the son of a farmer, will he stand by the farmers? Atwal who is fighting Jalandhar by-election on BJP’s ticket, will he raise his voice for Punjab? Captain Amarinder Singh, Ashwini Kumar, Fatehjung Bajwa etc., will they fight for the rights of Punjab? He added that these people have already surrendered in front of BJP, so the people of Punjab have no expectations from them.
Cheema said that BJP shouldn’t forget that Punjab led the green revolution too and made our country food sufficient. He added, only the Aam Aadmi Party is pro-farmers party and the chief minister Bhagwant Mann is true son of a farmer that is why when farmers were facing crop losses due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm, he immediately ordered girdawari and started compensation process.
