Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab today laid the foundation stone of the Rs 34.47 crore project to solve the sewerage problem of Malout city.
Dr. Baljit Kaur has given a grant of Rs. 12 crore for the development of 18 villages of Malot constituency.
On this occasion, she said that the promises made by the Punjab government during the elections are being fulfilled and the problems of the people are being solved.
She specially thanked the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann and said that due to his efforts this project has been approved to solve the sewerage problem of Malout residents.
She further said that efforts are being made to provide better health facilities to the people and raise the standard of education.
On this occasion S.S.Dhillon Executive Engineer Sewerage Board Bathinda informed that 185 km of sewage is laid in the city Malout and 95 percent of the area is covered with sewage facilities.
She further informed that in the decade of 2010-2015, due to the increased level of sem, the main sewerage was severely damaged, due to which sewage backflow is coming to a difficult pace in many areas of the city. Due to the efforts of Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur while watching the grievances and problems of the people. Rs 34.47 crore a DPR for replacement of old damaged sewage, machinery and construction of new STP has been approved by Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Chairman Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Sunny Ahluwalia.
She further informed that in the first phase of this sewerage work, some part of Fazilka Road and the main sewerage of Ward No. 19, 25, 26, 27 will be replaced. Along with this, generators would also be arranged to deal with power cuts by installing new machinery in damage-fighting mains and all pumping stations. The first phase will cost Rs. 10 crore and the work is expected to be completed in three months.
The Cabinet Minister also announced during his visit that the construction of Malout-Sri Muktsar Sahib road will be started soon so that the commuters on this road do not face any problem.
On this occasion, district president Aam Aadmi Party Jasan Brar, Karamjit Sharma, Ramesh Kumar, Satgurdev Pappi, SDO Madan Mohan Makkar , Harjinder Singh, Rajwant Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and dignitaries were present.
