The Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government is responsible for the decision of all the government doctors in Punjab to go on strike; because the Captain government had squandered many of the financial benefits of the doctors in the name of the Pay Commission. Disclosing this here on Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann demanded from the Captain government that the demands of the doctors, who are on strike; should be met and their allowances should be restored immediately. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here, Bhagwant Mann and party’s Doctor Wing state president Dr Ravjot said that the Captain government had made a big joke with all the government employees of Punjab in the name of pay commission as the decision of the government was causing huge financial loss to the employees instead of providing financial benefits.

Bhagwant Mann alleged that the Captain government had reduced the non-practicing allowance of the doctors from 25 percent to 20 percent, which the Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns. Dr Ravjot said that when the state government doctors opposed the decision of the Congress government and fought for their rights, the dictatorial Captain Amarinder Singh intentionally transferred doctor leaders to far-flung places; so that they could not fight against the Captain’s dictatorship. He said that such treatment of doctors serving the people of Punjab at the risk of their lives during the Covid period was highly reprehensible.

The AAP leaders said that the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Punjab was not over and a third wave of Covid was being warned. “In such a situation, violating the rights of doctors does not honor the state government,” they said. The leaders demanded from the Punjab government that the doctors should be given the same basic salary and allowances as before and the transfers of the struggling doctors should be canceled immediately; so that all the doctors can treat the people during the third wave without any worries.
