The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appealed to Sri Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh to immediately expel the culprits named in inquiry reports of the special investigating team (SIT) that were made public, on sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing and should direct the Governor of Punjab and the state government on the behalf of the entire Sikh Sangat to take immediate and stern action against the accused named in the probe reports. Appealing Sri Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, the AAP MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur and MLA and Kisan Wing president Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that five years had passed since the heinous act of the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari in 2015 and martyrdom of two Sikhs and dozens of injured in the indiscriminate firing by the police at Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura, but till date no justice has been served to the victims and families of the martyrs.

The leaders said that the conspirators have not been punished; due to which the entire Sikh community residing in the country and abroad was getting unbridled rage and anger. They said that while the previous SAD-BJP government led by Parkash Singh Badal was responsible for the gross humiliation, the present Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government was responsible for not giving justice; because the SAD-BJP government was directly involved in this whole incident, while Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who came to power by swearing in Sri Gutka Sahib to bring justice to the Sikh community, had tried to save the culprits by turning his back on the Guru and the Sikh Panth. Taking a dig Captain Amarinder Singh, the MLAs said that the investigation report of IPS Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, a senior police officer who had conducted an impartial inquiry into the matter, has been deliberately rejected under the guise of law, which has completely exposed the Captain government and the office of Advocate General that the ‘watchman was involved with the thieves’.

The AAP leader said that the world knows that the investigation reports of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh had revealed the names of the accused and the conspirators, but the Captain government deliberately did not submit the 10th challan of the investigation report to the court. “In this way the tainted power of the Captain government has not only further eroded justice but also sprinkled salt on the wounded hearts of the people of Punjab,” they added. They said that in retaliation, the SIT head Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh was forced to resign from his post in honor of Guru Maharaj, which was very unfortunate. The AAP MLAs appealed Sri Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh to expel the culprits from the Sikh Panth as soon as possible to calm the hearts of the Sikh community on the basis of the above incident and direct the government to take stern action against the culprits.
