Captain mourns passing away of veteran journalist and former Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday condoled the sad demise of former Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Journalist Chandan Mitra (65), who passed away at New Delhi late last night after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

In his tweet the Chief Minister said,”Saddened to know about the passing away of senior journalist & former Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra ji. I fondly remember my old association with him. May Almighty grant strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.”

Notably, Mitra worked with The Statesman, The Times of India, The Sunday Observer, and Hindustan Times, before joining ‘The Pioneer’ eventually rising to become its Editor and MD.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also mourned the passing away of Chandan Mitra and conveyed his condolences with the bereaved family.
