Chandigarh, September 28: Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira, while addressing a public meeting at Shampura in Fatehgarh Churian, alleged that there is loss of faith among the Ministers and MLAs in Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh.
Khaira said he was surprised to read a statement of Minister Navjot Sidhu, who has demanded that the department of police be given to him or in other words he be made the Home Minister. While doing so, Navjot Sidhu claimed that if he was made the Home Minister not a single drug dealer or mafia would be spared and if he failed to do so he will quit politics, quoted Khaira.
This sensational statement of Minister Navjot Sidhu is nothing but a direct attack on the capabilities of Capt. Amarinder Singh as Home Minister of Punjab, Khaira said. It also shows that Navjot Sidhu is of the firm opinion that the drug menace has not been curbed in Punjab till now and only if he was given the control of police can drugs be wiped out from the state. In other words, Navjot Sidhu doubts the capacity of Capt. Amarinder Singh as a leader, who has failed to control drugs as per his election manifesto promise, said the LoP.
This is not the first occasion when his own partymen have questioned the claims of Capt. Amarinder Singh. Recently, Surjit Singh Dhiman MLA Amargarh had publicly confessed that the Congress government had failed to control drugs which were available in abundance in every nook and corner of state, said the LoP.
Our allegations of poor governance he said, are only being vindicated and confirmed by the oft repeated criticism by the Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party. Khaira in the same breath also questioned the integrity of Minister Navjot Sidhu that either he should take some concrete action on his observations or he should stop making rebellious statements, as he has failed to do anything valid on his allegations of cable mafia earlier.
