Carjacking by three armed men at Murthal, Rs 2.4 lakh looted

Sonepat, February 24: Three armed persons allegedly attacked a resident of Jorashi village in Panipat district at Murthal bus stand crossing and fled with his car, mobile phone and Rs 2.4 lakh cash on Saturday.

According to in-charge, old police post, a case of loot has been registered against unidentified persons and the case was being investigated.

In his complaint, victim Deepak said he took Rs 2.4 lakh cash from his maternal uncle’s son Pradeep of Sector-7 at Gohana and came to Sonepat on Saturday an Endeavour of his friend Amit of Rithal village in Rohtak district, to pay advance money (byana) for a land deal. He said around noon, he received a call from a girl known to him and after knowing that he was in Sonepat, she asked him to meet her at the Murthal bus stand crossing.

He parked the car and was talking to her, when three persons came and started beating him and also snatched his mobile phone and car keys. He, however, managed to flee from there after they made an attempt to put him in their car. On returning, he neither found the girl, nor the car in which the cash was kept. He suspects the accused were known to the girl.

In another incident, three car-borne armed miscreants identified as Manoj, Lakshay and Sagar of Bindhroli village ‘attacked’ Yogender of Rohat village, damaged his car and looted Rs 83,000 as well as his ATM card on Saturday. He was returning to his village with his sister Swati and her three-month-old son, when the accused hit his car from behind near Bindhroli village. He stopped the car and three youths came out, attacked him and looted the cash before escaping. A case was registered at Barota police post on Sunday.
