Chadha suicide: 8 in 2-day police custody

Date:

Amritsar, March 1: The local court today remanded eight persons arrested in the CKD’s former vice- president Inderpreet Singh Chadha’s suicide case in two-day police custody.

The eight persons who appeared in the court of Duty Magistrate included Harjit Singh Chadha, younger brother of Inderpreet Singh Chadha, the woman principal allegedly involved in the sleazy video with the CKD’s former president Charanjit Chadha, her husband Surjit Singh, Vijay Umat, Inderpreet Singh Anand, K Ghumman and Davinder Sandhu.

Punjab and Haryana High Court’s senior lawyer Anandeshwar Gautam said these persons were taken into custody on the basis of preliminary report of the SIT under IG, Crime, LK Yadav, which has been investigating the three FIRs pertaining to the case of blackmailing registered at Jalandhar, Charanjit’s intimate video with a woman principal of a school and the suicide of his son Inderpreet.

He said other persons who were booked in the case, too, would face the SIT investigation and face the law accordingly.About the police custody, he said, “It is a bigger conspiracy and the arrested persons were not cooperating with the SIT.

There are many gaps in the evidences which need to be filled by police interrogation. The police have many evidences, including email details, the laptop from which the video clip was uploaded, details of money transactions and persons who received extortion money, etc,” he said.
