Chandigarh, May 25: With mercury rising and the city reeling under hot weather, it has become a task for people to do their daily activities.
The Tribune talked to the residents of the city and the street vendors who sell drinking water, lemonade, sugarcane juice and fruits etc on how to beat the heat this summer.
While the city recorded a maximum temperature of 42.4°C on Friday which was 1° above normal, it experienced the hottest day of the summer and also one of the hottest in the past decade on May 22 with the maximum temperature being recorded at 43°C.
The weathermen have predicted that the heatwave conditions will persist till the end of the month.
