CM Channi and Captain’s meeting with Amit Shah betrayal to Punjab: Harpal Singh Cheema

Chandigarh, March 8

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema termed the meeting between officiating Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Capt Amarinder Singh with Home Minister Amit Shah as ‘betrayal to Punjab’ and said that Congress, Captain, Bharatiya Janata Party and Badals have always pursued anti-Punjab policies and conspiracies. Cheema alleged that Bhakra Beas Management Committee and the Chandigarh issue was an excuse, the agenda of meetings of Channi and Captain with Amit Shah was to stop the formation of AAP government in Punjab.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Tuesday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the issue of ending Punjab’s share in Bhakra Beas Management Board and Chandigarh has been on the minds of the people for a long time now, because BJP used Punjab Assembly Elections as distraction to implemented many anti-Punjab decisions. He said that the Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Capt. Amarinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa remained silent against the tyranny of the Centre. Now that all exit polls are indicating the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, the leaders of these traditional parties are again coming together to hatch conspiracies against Punjab and Aam Aadmi Party.

Cheema said that if Chief Minister Channi had talked to Amit Shah about the issues of Punjab, then he should inform the people about solutions of those issues, because in his last meeting with Amit Shah Chief Minister Channi handed over half of Punjab to Union Government and BSF’s ambit was expanded to 50 KMs. He said that Central Agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) was arm twisting Capt. Amarinder Singh as well as Chief Minister Channi and these leaders were silent on anti-Punjab decisions of Modi government to save themselves.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that the aim of Congress, BJP and Akali Dal Badal was to retain power in Punjab, so they once again joined hands to form an alliance. But the people of Punjab will completely spoil the anti-Punjab plans of these traditional parties. Cheema claimed that the people of Punjab had voted unilaterally in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party, and the same was confirmed by all opinion and exit polls. The results on March 10 will be even more astonishing and the regime of traditional parties and their corrupt politics will end for good.
