Chandigarh, October 7-
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that the state government is committed for bailing out the farmers of the state from any sort of natural calamity.
The Chief Minister, during a meeting with the farmers here at Punjab Bhagwan, said that the state government is not leaving any stone unturned for this cause. He said that all the Deputy Commissioners have been directed to ensure proper assessment of loss of farmers. Bhagwant Mann said that the farmers will be duly compensated for their every loss.
The Chief Minister said that the farmers who have suffered loss due to attack of pink worm and others pests will also be duly compensated. He said that the state government is fully committed for well being of the farmers of the state. Bhagwant Mann said that it is bounden duty of the government to help the farmers in this hour of crisis.
Dwelling of another issue, the Chief Minister said that every effort is being made to duly compensate the farmers while acquiring even an inch of their land. He said that the state government is committed for safeguarding the interests of the farmers at all cost. Bhagwant Mann said that necessary directions have been passed to the Deputy Commissioners in this regard.
The Chief Minister also reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to procure every single grain of the farmers in the grain markets (Mandis). He said that the state government has already made elaborate arrangements for purchasing the golden harvest of the farmers as soon as it arrives in the Mandis. Bhagwant Mann said that smooth and hassle free procurement of grains is being ensured in the market so that farmers don’t face any sort of inconvenience.
The Chief Minister also assured the farmers that he will flag the issue of FIRs with Railways and Government of India. He said that the state government has already started the process of taking back the FiRs registered against the farmers during farm agitation. Bhagwant Mann said that no stone will be left unturned for bailing out farmers.
The Chief Minister also assured the farmers that the state government will send a detail list of the cattle wealth that has fallen prey to Lumpy skin to the Government of India. He said that the state government will flag the issue of compensating the farmers who have lost their cattle wealth due to this disease with the union government. Bhagwant Mann said that strenuous efforts are already being made to ensure that centre government declare this disease as pandemic.
The Chief Minister also said that the state government is fully against the privatisation of the distribution of power. He said that the state government will vehemently oppose any such move of the centre. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is fully with the farmers in their stance against the bill moved by Government of India.
The Chief Minister informed the farmers that the state government is making all out effort for paddy straw management. He said that the farmers should support the state government for this noble cause by not burning the paddy straw. Bhagwant Mann said that it was the need of the hour for protecting the environment of the state.
