Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala), May 10: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday reviewed the arrangements being made for the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, promising full support of the government in making it a memorable occasion.
During the review meeting here at the local stadium, Captain Amarinder said his government had made a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore for the arrangements, to ensure that the celebrations are held at an unprecedented scale, befitting of the historic occasion.
Concerted efforts were already afoot to give a complete facelift to the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi, he said, adding that Rs 10 crore had been sanctioned for the holistic development of the holy city.
The Chief Minister directed the officials of various departments to ensure time-bound completion of all arrangements. No laxity in this regard should be allowed, he told the officials.
Earlier, local MLA Navtej Singh Cheema welcomed the Chief Minister to the city.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Lok Sabha MP and President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Sunil Jakhar, former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann, Inspector General of Police Naunihal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Tayyab and Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Sharma.
