Cold-war between Guv, CM doesn’t augur well for Punjab: Warring

Date:

CHANDIGARH, March 3: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the ‘cold-war’ between the Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit and the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not seem to have ended and it did not augur well for the state.

Responding to the developments during the inaugural day of the Budget Session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha today, Warring said, the Governor made no secret of his feelings for the Chief Minister and his government.

“I am sure the message must not have been lost on those for whom it was meant”, Warring remarked, while pointing out how the Governor took jibes at the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state.

The PCC president apprehended that the ‘cold-war’ between the Governor and the Chief Minister was likely to continue and carry forward as was indicated abundantly during today’s proceedings in the Vidhan Sabha.

“I don’t know how often the Punjab government can rush to the Supreme Court of India against the Governor, in case he again overrules it, which in all probability he will keep on doing”, Warring said, adding that such matters should have been resolved between the two of them.

Moreover, the PCC president added, the questions raised by the Governor still remain unanswered. “You may have rebuffed the Governor, which was wrong, but people of Punjab, to whom, you admitted you were answerable, are still waiting for your answers”, he told the Chief Minister adding, “you don’t feel like answering to the Governor, but do answer to the people of Punjab as these questions have come from their representatives to the Governor which he posed to you”.

Warring warned that the confrontationist approach, that is the characteristic way of the working of the Aam Aadmi Party everywhere will not work in Punjab. “It may suit you in Delhi, but it will be harmful for Punjab”, he cautioned the Chief Minister while urging him not to carry forward his ‘cold-war’ with the Governor saying, “cooperation, not confrontation is in Punjab’s interest”.
