Jalandhar, July 15: Jalandhar Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha on Sunday chased and nabbed two miscreants who snatched a woman’s jewellery.

Pushpa Rani, who works as a domestic help, said she was returning home around 4 pm, when two bike-borne youths snatched her gold earrings and drove off.

“I began to shout for help. A car with a police escort stopped and suddenly, escorts on two motorcycles moved ahead of the car and began to chase the robbers. The car, too, followed the bikes,” said Rani.

After an hour, she was informed that it was the Police Commissioner himself who had nabbed the two accused. Sinha said he was on his way to a gym when he saw the snatching.

As he and his gunmen chased the accused, the latter entered a colony nearby. “I blocked the main entrance with the car while my gunmen entered a narrow lane. I came out of the car and stood at the entrance,” said the commissioner.
As soon as the snatchers came towards him, Sinha held the pillion rider by the collar and threw him on the ground. The other one, too, lost his balance and fell down. They were handed over to the area SHO.
