Commissioner slaps show cause notice to SDE and JE for negligence

Chandigarh, September 2:- Day after negligence was detected at a site of construction work of road gully in sector 21, Chandigarh, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh served show cause notice under Rule 10 of Punjab Civil Service (Punishment and Appeals) Rules, 1970 to the Sub Divisional Engineer and Junior Engineer, Public Health Division, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh for dereliction of duty.

It is was noticed that a work of construction of road gully in sector 21, Chandigarh awarded to M/s Vakeel Yadav (contractor), who left the dug up road without putting any kind of sign boards around the area for the caution of general public, which creates danger to the general public passing through that road.

Taking note of this, the Municipal Commissioner has issued a show cause to the officers responsible for this work and also directed that the said contractor be issued a show cause as well. She said that no such negligence shall be tolerated. She also directed the engineering wings that each site of construction shall be visited at least once everyday by either the JE or the SDO. Also, all works started within the city limits be completed within time.
