Malout, September 5: Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and the Gandhi family.
He initiated a series of meetings ahead of the zila parishad and panchayat samiti polls.
Addressing party workers and mediapersons at the new grain market in Abohar, Sukhbir said: “Jakhar had stated that people would not allow the Akalis to enter any village or town after tabling of the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report. Accepting his challenge, I have come here to announce that I will be holding rallies to expose the Congress, starting from Jakhar’s home town on Sunday. Jakhar and Amarinder are trying to tarnish the image of my family. My father never harmed anyone in his life, how can he order firing on protesters?”
Describing the Commission report as a “stage-managed drama”, the SAD president said the Gandhi family was responsible for the decade-long turmoil in Punjab during 1980-90. They were again conspiring with hardliners to spoil the hard-earned peace in Punjab, he alleged.
Later in the afternoon, Sukhbir visited Jakhar’s native Panjkosi village and stayed there for about 30 minutes. He alleged that the Congress wanted to gain control of the SGPC, Golden Temple, Akal Takht and other sacred shrines and dilute and destroy our traditions, history and heritage.
He dared the Congress ministers to accept AAP MLA HS Phoolka’s demand for sharing the concrete evidence of sacrilege probe or resign en bloc by September15.
In Malout, Sukhbir took on Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and parallel Jathedars Baljit Singh Daduwal and Dhian Singh Mand. “These people are terming Badal sahib as a weak person. He remained in jail for 16 years for Punjab and its peace and Amarinder can’t even stand under the sun for even five minutes. I warn these people that if I allow my party men, they will send them packing to Pakistan.”
