CHANDIGARH, December 14: Punjab Congress today lashed out at the unnecessary controversy created by the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state over removal of the Chandigarh SSP.
“The way things are unfolding, it looks like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing”, PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said in a statement, while reacting to the letter written by the Governor Banwarilal Purohit to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on the issue which completely exposes the massive communication gap and casual approach of people in the government.
Quoting the contents of the Governor’s letter to the CM, Warring observed that it was quite clear that the Chief Minister had apparently been kept in the dark over the process initiated by the UT Administrator to remove the Chandigarh SSP, who happens to be the Punjab cadre IPS officer.
He pointed out, the letter makes it irrefutably clear that the state government had been duly informed at the highest level about the move and still it claimed ignorance using the office of the Chief Minister and shooting off a letter to the Governor.
The PCC president said, accountability and responsibility must be fixed as to which official took such a serious matter so casually and eventually put the government in such an embarrassing situation.
“This is precisely what we have been saying that nobody knows what is happening in this government so much so that the Chief Minister was made to shoot off a letter to the Governor who promptly debunked all the charges”, he remarked, while pointing out that the government had gone into silent mode and had not reacted so far to the Governor’s letter.
