Chandigarh, July 19
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national spokesperson, MLA and Punjab affairs co-incharge, Raghav Chadha said that the ongoing internal feud in Punjab Congress has made one thing clear that the ruling Congress is not concerned about the issues related to Punjab and the people, but only for chair (power). He said that despite being in power for four-and-a-half years, these Congressmen never fought for Punjab and the issues faced by the people of Punjab; but only to grab or save the chair. “As the situation prevails, it seems unlikely that Navjot Singh Sidhu becoming the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress will quell the infighting within the Congress,” he added.
Raghav Chadha, along with Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and state general secretary, Harchand Singh Barsat, were speaking to the media after inducting 2017 Congress candidate Ranjit Singh Rana and Kapurthala District Youth Congress president, advocate Harsimran Singh Ghuman in the party. Responding to the mediapersons, Raghav Chadha said that although it was an internal issue of the Congress, but being the ruling party, the Congress’s strife had caused a lot of damage to Punjab. “Punjab was not on their agenda due to the internal fighting. After ruining four and a half years, now we hope that the ruling Congress will utilise the remaining few months for the betterment of the people and the state,” he added.
In a reply, Raghav Chadha said, “Our best wishes to Navjot Singh Sidhu. Let us see how Sidhu, sitting on the chair of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, deals with all the burning issues of Punjab, corruption and mafia.” He said that everyone knows that despite swearing by Sri Gutka Sahib, Captain and the Congress did not fight on the issues related to sand mafia, land mafia, transport mafia, electricity mafia, unemployment, drugs, debt-ridden farmers-laborers, women-elderly, employees-pensioners and even for the justice in the case of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
The AAP leader said that they had fought among themselves only to save or grab the chair from each other. “For this reason, the people have become completely disillusioned with the Congress, like the Badals. That is why the people are seeing Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘AAP’, which has become a symbol of development, as a great hope,” he said. On the occasion, Harpal Singh Cheema said that just as the masks of the Badals had come off, who being power-drunk crossed all the limits; similarly the Congressmen fighting for the chair had been exposed, that they can fall to any extent in the lust of the chair.
