Moga, July 12: Additional District and Sessions Judge, Moga, Charanjit Arora on Thursday framed charges against seven gangsters under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Arms Act in the targeted killing cases of two Dera Sacha Sauda followers in Faridkot district in 2016.
Although the trial of murder case is separately going on in the district court in Faridkot, the recovery of weapons case is pending in this court. The weapons used in the crime were recovered from Budhsinghwala village of the Baghapurana sub-division of Moga district and an FIR under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Arms Act was registered in the Baghapurana police station.
Vazir Singh, SP (Investigation), Moga, said charges had been framed against UK-resident Jagtar Singh Johal, Taljit Singh Jimmy, Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Dharminder Singh Gugni, Hardeep Singh Shera, Anil Kumar and Jagjit Singh Jaggi and the prosecution would begin recording the statements of witnesses from July 26, which was the next date of hearing in the case.
These gangsters were produced in the district courts here under tight security arrangements. They were brought from the high security jails of Nabha, Sangrur and Ropar for producing them in the court here.
The eighth accused, Harminder Singh Mintu, who was the head of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), died of cardiac arrest in the jail a few months ago.
Taljit Singh was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, on October 31, 2017. His name cropped-up during the investigations of two high-profile murder cases of Baba Lakha Singh and Baba Gurdev Singh, both Dera Sacha Sauda followers, at Bajakhana in Faridkot district in December 2016.
