Chandigarh. March 5: The Punjab Government has cautioned all the Deputy Commissioners, Commissioner of Police, SSPs and Civil surgeons to be alert and keep close tab on any suspected case of Corona Virus in the state.
At the same time, the DCs have been asked to ensure that the people of the state must not panic and they should be educated on all the precautionary measures which can be adopted to check that the deadly COVID-19 may not inroads into the society.
The Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh today held a video conference with all the DCs, Commissioner of Police, SSPs and the civil surgeons in this regard and took stock of the ground situation and the preparedness of Health and other Departments to cope with the situation arising out of the spread of COVID-19 in India.
Disclosing this, a official spokesperson of the Punjab Govt. said that taking serious concern of the news reports about the suspected cases of Corona Virus in Punjab, the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has instructed the Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh to gauge the ground reality of the news reports and have one-two-one meeting with all the DCs, Commissioner of Police, SSPs and civil surgeons to direct them to be vigilant 24×7 and report any case of suspected patient immediately.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary Health and family welfare Anuraag Aggarwal, Principal Secretary Medical Education and Research D.K. Tiwari, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary Transport K. Siva Prasad, ADGP Intelligence Varinder Kumar and other higher officials from concerned departments.
