Nabha, March 6: The closure of three thermal plants in the state notwithstanding, Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot here today said there would be no power cuts in Punjab during the forthcoming summer season.

Dharamsot while talking to The Tribune on the sidelines of the Nabha Commission Agents Association election said the Congress government was working in a systematic way and the state government had ensured eight-hour uninterrupted power supply to the farmers. He said there would be no power cuts to the industrial sector or to the domestic consumers in the next summer season.

The minister said the state government had made elaborate arrangements for the lifting of wheat crop. He said the payments to the farmers for their crops would be made on time. He said unlike the SAD-BJP government which took action when farmers brought their produce in the grain markets, the Congress government had already initiated action in this front and had ensured that there was no delay of payments to the farmers.

Congratulating the newly elected president of the association, he said Congress-supported candidate Jeevan Lal Gupta won the election due to the farmers and commission agents-friendly policies of the state government.
