Dyal Singh College row: BJP’s fresh onslaught adds to long list of injustices towards Sikhs in this Hindu-India says Dal Khalsa

Hoshiarpur, November 24, 2017: In the midst of the Dyal Singh Majithia college controversy, the Dal Khalsa today slammed Akali politics for becoming second fiddle to Hindutva politics and mortgaging Sikh interests before the BJP in lieu of power, pelf and privileges.

Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said it’s pity and painful that the Jathedar Akal Takhat, SGPC and DSGMC has to raise hue and cry to stop the renaming of Dyal Singh college as Vande Mataram Mahavidyalaya. “If this is not the sign of slavery of Sikhs in Hindu-India than what it is? Is this the achievement of so-called moderate politics pursued by Badal led Akali Dal”, he wondered.

He took a dig at Akalis for keeping mum when Muslims and Dalits were burnt alive in the name of cow protection. Akalis kept quiet when journalists and writers having left leanings were targeted by Hindu radicals and goons. Akalis again kept quiet when Sikh hardliners were framed in cases on flimsy grounds because they considered them as moderates . Now, when Hindutva people are all set to undermine the legacy of moderate Sikh personally Dayal Singh Majithia, the Akalis are left red faced, he observed.

Terming the frenzied elements associated with RSS as worst than Talibans, he said playing the card of pseudo-nationalism to polarize the society has become order of the day under Modi dispensation.

Sikhs have suffered massacres, discriminations, rights abuses and injustices in this country since long. The new onslaught by the management head, who is aligned with the BJP just adds to long list of injustices that Sikhs have been facing.

Reminding the Amitabh Sinha, chairman of the college who is hell bent to stick to its design, he said Sikhs haven’t allowed Majithia’s to upsurp the land of prestigious Khalsa College in Amritsar. It would be preposterous to think that they would allow the likes of Amitabh Sinha to do the same with Dyal Singh Majithia college.
