Chandigarh, February 1:

Digital voter card, e-EPIC (electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card) programme launched by Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 25, 2021 has been receiving tremendous response with more than 3 lakh newly enrolled voters having downloaded their e-EPICs already.

However, looking at high demand and consequent load on the e-EPIC system, the ECI has decided to extend the phase-I meant for new voters eclusively till the end of February, 2021.

The ECI has decided to give first priority to the newly enrolled electors during special summary revision-2020-21. The dates for e-EPIC download for general voters in the second phase, who have already enrolled prior to special summary revision-2020-21 and whose unique mobile numbers are authenticated, would be announced separately.

Aimed at creating voter convenience, new voters can now view and print the digital voter card on their registered mobile. An e-EPIC is a non-editable secure portable document format (PDF) version of the EPIC. It can be downloaded on mobile or in a self-printable form on the computer. A voter can thus store the card on her/his mobile, upload it on digi locker or print it and self-laminate it. This is in addition to physical EPIC being issued for fresh registration.

Citizens can easily download e-EPIC using any of following online platforms:

• Voter Helpline Mobile app (Android/iOS)

As per the guidelines of ECI, District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have been instructed to encourage all newly enrolled electors to avail of e-EPIC. The office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab has also activated the field level officers to give wide publicity to this new initiative of ECI.
