ECI reviews poll preparedness for Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2022

Deputy Election Commissioner, Sh. Nitesh Kumar Vyas, IAS reviewed the poll preparedness for forthcoming Punjab Assembly Elections – 2022 at the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab on October 20, 2021.

Sh. Nitesh Vyas, IAS directed the CEO, Punjab to closely monitor the First Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs/VVPATs going on at the district level. He also directed the election officials at O/o CEO Punjab to systematically track and respond promptly on the complaints received through Toll Free Helpline Number 1950 and pay attention to the trainings of Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

During the meeting, a brief presentation was made by Dr. S Karuna Raju, IAS, CEO, Punjab highlighting status of preparedness, curent status with of electoral rolls (voter list), rationalisation of polling stations, EVMs/VVPATs, First Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs/VVPATs, training of all election officials, procurement of election material and law & order situation etc. were discussed in detail.

Further, he explained about the progress of pre-revision activities in connection with Special Summary Revision of Voter List (special drive for addition, deletion and correction of particulars in the voter list). He also informed about the preparatory action taken in respect of finalization of Electoral Rolls (Voter list), finalization of manpower requirements, training arrangements and Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiatives etc.

Dr. Raju informed also informed that necessary steps have been taken to ensure Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) such as availability of ramp, water facility, toilet in all 24,689 polling booths in Punjab.

Ms. Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) cum Nodal Officer, Elections apprised Deputy Election Commissioner, ECI about the general law and order situation prevailing in Punjab and discussed about the steps planned by Punjab Police to enforce security measures as mandated by the Election Commission of India.

The meeting was attended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) cum Nodal Officer, Elections, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Under Secretary, ECI and other officers of the office of Chief Electoral Officer , Punjab.
