Moga, September 15: Citing threats, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal has asked the state government to immediately transfer him from here.

Grewal was allegedly threatened by Congress MLAs Dr Harjo

t Kamal, Darshan Singh Brar and Kaka Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh and Youth Congress leader Kamaljit Singh Brar (Darshan Brar’s son) after he refused to reject the nomination papers of some candidates in the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections.

Claiming that Congress MLAs and their supporters had not deposited firearms at police stations or gun houses, the ADC feared that they may cause harm to him, his ailing mother and his children.

“Security personnel have been provided to me, but these MLAs’ supporters are roaming freely with firearms even on the premises of the mini-secretariat, violating orders of the district magistrate,” he said.

“During the scrutiny of nomination papers, when I asked the policemen deployed outside my office to turn away armed persons, they did not act and remained mute spectators. The policemen are apparently working under the influence of Congress leaders,” he alleged.

In a letter to Deputy Commissioner Devinder Pal Singh Kharbanda, Grewal said the ruling party MLAs told him, “The Congress is in power. We got transferred the previous DC. We will send you to a place which you will never forget in your life. The government takes no time to register a police case. Therefore, you listen to us and do what is desired from you.”
