Ferozepur, September 27, 2018: A 24-year-old prisoner identified as Kewal Singh, son of Balkar Singh, a resident of Gatti Rajo Ke, has committed suicide in the Central Jail premises.
As per the information, the prisoner was booked under NDPS Act and sentenced three years imprisonment on September 24.
Kewal Singh prisoner being a drug addict was admitted to the Drug De-addiction Centre in the jail and in the wee hours, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the washroom of the barrack.
The jail authorities informed the police immediately who handed over the body to the family members after completing the formalities and conduct of post-mortem.
However, the investigations were being carried out to ascertain the cause behind the incident.
