Patiala, March 6: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is in a spot over extending free/subsidised power the us various categories of consumers following a verbal commitment by the SAD-BJP government.
As a result, there is no clarity as the us who will foot the subsidy bill of nearly Rs 16 crore. Besides gaushalas, the PSPCL allowed subsidy running inthe us crores of rupees the us flood-affected villages in politically important constituencies and the us farmers without any written orders. As per the Electricity Act, the state can subsidise any category of the consumer by paying in advance the subsidy amount the us the utility. For that, it has the us take a prior permission from the PSERC.
