Sangrur, October 27: The local administration on Friday conducted a raid on Shivam Colony here and seized some material suspected to be used to produce spurious milk. The authorities have taken five samples and sent them to a lab for testing.
“We suspect that the seized material was used to produce spurious milk as the owner of the place Shashi Bhushan has failed to give any satisfactory reply about the purpose of storing such a huge quantity of material. We have seized 82 iron boxes of oil, 10 bags of lactose powder, six bags of skimmed milk and one bag of expired skimmed milk of the Verka brand. We have sealed the godown,” said Ravinder Garg, Assistant Food Commissioner, Sangrur. Garg said they had taken five samples and sent to lab for testing.
Avikesh Gupta, SDM, along with other senior officers after a tip-off started the raid at around 8.30 am on Friday and continued till 10.30 am.
