Gurdwara in Bhindrawale’s memory opened in Moga

Moga, February 23: Gurdwara Sant Khalsa dedicated to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was inaugurated at Rode, his ancestral village, in Baghapurana sub-division of the district today.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal, Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Khalsa, the Jathedars of other Takhts, religious leaders and some family members of Bhindrawale participated in the inaugural ceremony.

Senior SAD leader Tota Singh and district president Tirath Singh Mahla also paid obeisance at the shrine.

A memorial to Operation Bluestar has also been established on the premises of the shrine. However, no photograph of Bhindrawale has been displayed at the gurdwara.

The shrine was inaugurated by Khalsa, the chief of Damdami Taksal, which was once headed by Bhindrawale.

He said: “The gurdwara has been constructed on land owned by the Bhindrawale’s family. We have not taken any financial help from the government or any political party.

”Addressing the gathering, the Akal Takht Jathedar appealed to the Sikh community to keep weapons in every household.
