Gurkirat Kotli announces to waive off double tax levied on tanneries

CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 15:

With the aim to improve the state of tanneries of Jalandhar, Punjab Industry Minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli today announced to waive off double tax levied on them and non construction charges from wet plots.

Presiding over a meeting with renowned industrialists of Jalandhar, the Cabinet Minister acknowledged their various legitimate demands and asserted that the state government has decided to accord 15 percent share for up gradation of age-old tanneries of Jalandhar. He also announced that the state government has decided to remove all the illegal encroachments from the industrial areas of the state. Talking about the various industrial friendly policies of the state government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, he added that we were committed to follow the global emission rules up till 2030 as the Prime Minister had also shared their vision to control greenhouse gases. He also urged all the industrialists to follow these rules.

Mr. Kotli alongwith Chairman Infotech Harpreet Singh Sandhu, Principal Secretary Industry Tejvir Singh and Director Industry Sibin C., urged the delegation to dispose of all the tanneries waste in proper manner and said that spillage of uncontrolled tanneries effluents in natural water resources can’t be tolerated at any cost.

The delegates appreciated the sincere efforts of Industry Minister to have the vision to listen the genuine problems of leather federation units based in jalandhar.

Delegation from Leather Federation Jalandhar included Atul Kumar Mishra, Regional Director Council for Leather Exports (New Delhi), Hira Lal Verma President Punjab Leather Federation, Deepak Chawla Senior Vice President, Sanjay Verma Secretary and Stiven Kaler Chief Adviser were present during the meeting.
