High Court rejects plea against Brahmpura’s election

Date:

Chandigarh, May 19: Justice Raj Mohan Singh of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed a petition challenging the election of Ranjit Singh Brahmpura to the Lok Sabha from Khadoor Sahib held in April-May 2014. Brahmpura was elected as a candidate of the SAD-BJP alliance.

The election was challenged by Harminder Singh, an elector in the constituency, on the ground that he had appealed to the voters in the name of religion. The petition was listed for further consideration on May 16. However, nobody appeared for the petitioner.
