In another first for Civil Hospitals in Punjab, a case of Perineal Uretherostomy was successfully conducted, followed by urethral reconstruction at the Government Sub-Divisional Hospital, Dera Bassi on a 70 year old male patient.
The patient had previously been referred by GMCH 32 to PGI and had been deferred by PGIMER
The patient had first come to Civil Hospital on May 17 and was taken up for surgery on May 21 under a team of doctors led by Dr Karan Bir Singh, Surgeon posted at the Hospital.
SMO, Dera Bassi Dr. Sangeeta Jain while giving details of the case, lauded the efforts of her team in providing superspeciality services. She stated that quality surgical services are being provided by her team of doctors at Dera Bassi. She disclosed that now every month over 300 surgeries are being performed at the hospital including General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynecology and Orthopaedics .
In the last one year, surgeries for breast cancer, abdominal cancers, urological procedures, general surgical emergencies and various other ailments have been performed under General Surgery Department of SDH Dera Bassi, many of which have been a first for Civil Hospitals in Punjab.
Under Ayushman Bharat Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojna, lot of eligible patients are being treated free of cost in the hospital and major surgeries are being done at nominal user charges as per the instructions of the Government. She also specifically appreciated the serices being rendered by Dr Karan Bir Singh as a General Surgeon along with the other doctors and paramedics of the hospital.
