Chandigarh, June 11

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that it has been proved that the Congress is a party of corruptions and scams, as earlier only the opposition used to say it; but now the Congress MLAs themselves believe that the Congress ministers are thieves and the king is useless. Cheema said that the hoarding placed by the Congress of ‘Punjab da Captain’, should be replaced by ‘Ghotaleyan da Captain’ in the state. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Friday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that Congress ministers, MLAs and other leaders had come to power in Punjab and looted Punjab’s treasures, natural resources and harassed the people.

He said that the lists of scams perpetrated by the Congress leaders were prepared by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh himself and were presented to the Congress High Command; but sitting in the Chief Minister’s chair, Captain Amarinder Singh did not take any action against the rogue ministers, MLAs and other leaders. Cheema alleged that Captain Amarinder Singh could only compile a list of rogue ministers and MLAs to save his seat and cannot take action. “It has been proved that Amarinder Singh is the ‘Captain of scams’. The list of rogue Congress ministers and MLAs is Amarinder Singh’s confession that he is running a government of mafia and corruption. Captain Amarinder only wanted the Chief Minister’s seat,” said Cheema. He said that Captain had no concern for the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and no concern for the education of the Dalit students.

The AAP leader further said that even today the people of the state were being looted by sand mafia, liquor mafia, transport mafia, cable mafia, drug mafia and vaccine mafia. Taking a dig at the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, Cheema alleged that the Congress government in Punjab was looting the state exchequer and filling the coffers of the Congress High Command. “Despite the protests of the people of Punjab against the corruption of Congress ministers, MLAs and leaders, the Congress High Command did not take any action,” he added. Cheema said that despite Captain Amarinder Singh’s handing over of the list of corrupt persons to the Congress High Command, Congress national president Sonia Gandhi herself was protecting the ministers, MLAs and other Congress leaders who were running the mafia.
