Amritsar, January 5: The police today booked 11 persons for abetting the suicide of Inderpreet Singh Chadha, son of expelled Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) head Charanjit Singh Chadha.
A case was registered under Sections 306 and 120-B of the IPC against Surjit Singh, Umat, Kuljit Kaur, Mania, Davinder Sandhu, Inderpreet Singh Anand, Gursewak Singh, Hari Singh Sandhu, Nirmal Singh, Bhag Singh Ankhi and the woman principal who had accused Charanjit of outraging her modesty and Inderpreet of criminal intimidation. Ankhi is a former CKD honorary secretary who was expelled in 2011.
Meanwhile, a day after his suicide, two letters purportedly written by Inderpreet surfaced today. One of these is said to be the suicide note, while the other is addressed to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. In these letters written hours before his death, Inderpreet alleged that his younger brother, Harjit Chadha, had involved several high-profile persons to set a honeytrap for his father so as to reap financial gains.
Denying the allegations, Harjit said, “I don’t know under what circumstances my brother mentioned my name in the suicide note. Whatever property documents I had pledged with the banks, it was done with my father’s consent.”
Inderpreet urged his sons Anmol, Angad and Tooci and his wife to continue the fight for his father, who was allegedly framed by an ADGP-rank officer, a local political leader, the complainant and a group of former CKD members. He alleged that police officials had demanded Rs 4 crore and the politician had sought Rs 50 lakh, but he had refused to oblige them, following which the sleaze video was circulated.
Inderpreet wrote to the CM that his father was being blackmailed by greedy and unscrupulous elements.
The post-mortem examination was conducted here today in the presence of family members and relatives. The cremation was put off for a day as the deceased’s son, Anmol, was yet to arrive from Canada.
