Sirsa, October 17: A team from the investigation wing of the income tax department reached Sirsa to search and survey the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters.
Sources said the team first arrived at the court of chief judicial magistrate to seek permission. However, investigation wing of the income tax department maintained distance from mediapersons and did not reveal anything about the visit.
Sources said that the team led by assistant director, income tax, Data Ram, will conduct search and survey at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters as per directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court.
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim is currently in jail after being convicted of raping two female disciples on August 25. He was awarded a 20-year jail sentence on August 28. His conviction had led to largescale violence and arson in Panchkula, Sirsa and other neighbouring areas.
