Chandigarh, October 27:
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Chetan Singh Jauramajra chaired a meeting of state health officials at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh to review the progress of various ongoing developmental works of the department. While addressing the meeting Mr. Jauramajra asked the officials to be proactive and stressed on completing all the developmental works as per schedule and any laxity in completion of any work will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the erring official.
In order to further improve the healthcare services in the state Mr. Jauramajra ordered officials to instruct all the health institutions of Punjab to provide the status of their medical equipments and also enlist the requirement of any new equipment or repair of any equipment as budget for such procurement is available at the state level.
The Minister also ordered to undertake condemnation proceedings of various defunct and non-working equipments lying in the health institutions of Punjab and to dispose off such equipments and free up the space in the hospital premises. On the cleanliness front Minister inquired about the status of contracts for maintenance of cleanliness in hospitals and asked the officials to ensure better upkeep of hospitals.Moreover old buildings in dilapidated condition should be demolished after following due procedure.
Mr. Jauramajra disclosed that to provide over the counter drugs at cheaper rates 25 Jan Aushadhi stores are already functional in government hospitals of Punjab and there is plan to open 14 more such stores for the convenience of the Public.
Grievances of various employee unions were also taken up by the Minister and he directed the officials to fulfil their genuine demands and as an employee friendly initiative he asked the concerned official to clear out any pendency in terms of reimbursement of medical bills of the employees.
In this meeting Mission Director NHM Abhinav Trikha, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra, Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Dr. Ravinderpal Kaur, Director Homeopathy, Director Ayurveda and other senior officials were also present.
